Day 13-Repentance

Jodee Schrlau

“Or, you may fall on your knees and pray—to God’s delight!
You’ll see God’s smile and celebrate,
finding yourself set right with God.
You’ll sing God’s praises to everyone you meet,
testifying, ‘I messed up my life—
and let me tell you, it wasn’t worth it.
But God stepped in and saved me from certain death.
I’m alive again! Once more I see the light!’
Job 33:26 (MSG)

As we review what we do that pleases God, repentance has to be at the top of that list.  God knew that man would never be able to live a perfect life in this world.  Even Adam living in the paradise God created for Him would not do it.  So, along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, they devised a plan.  Jesus would live that perfect life and take on the punishment for the inability to live a life that was acceptable to God.  Then repentance and restoration would be available to all mankind.  Because of Jesus, NOTHING can separate us from God again. He can delight in us as He wanted to from the beginning.

The only thing stopping this relationship is us.  Not our sin, but our repentance from that sin.  That is where the roadblocks to living in His righteousness come from.

Repentance is not crying and pleading with God to forgive you for something wrong you have done.  True repentance is asking forgiveness and placing the wrong under the blood of Jesus.  Then getting up with His strength and help, change what we were doing.

Repentance is literally changing the way you think, which is where it all starts.  Proverbs 23:7 tells us what you think about is what you do.  No one has ever sinned by accident, it always starts with a thought.  It is the same with restoration to God's way of doing things.  The first step is to change your thoughts.  As you change your thoughts, your actions will change.

Exercise in Delight Review your God-given dreams and goals for 2020.  Ask God to show you any area with repentance (a change in thinking) may be needed.  Then delight God by falling on your knees and praying.
