Love is; Day 10

Love is kind.

Kind- to show oneself useful, i.e. Act benevolently -- be kind.

Strong's Concordance:

chrésteuomai: to be kind

Short Definition: I am kind

Definition: I am kind (full of service to others), gentle.

Living a life of  kindness is living in a way that pleases God.

Kindness is characterized by benevolence and tenderness. A kind person is disposed to help others and to do so with sympathy and consideration.  He seeks out needs and looks for opportunities to meet those needs without expecting repayment. Jesus describes kindness in Luke 6:33-35. "and if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?  For even sinners do the same thing….But do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men"

My husband is one of these people, full of service to others.  He has to be at work at 5am and it is a 30 minute drive from our house.  Most days he leaves early so he can pick up a fellow worker who is without a license or car to drive.  After working his shift, he takes more home.  He always calls and asks if I would like him to stop on the way home and get me anything.  He checks on our older neighbors to see if they need help with anything and follows through.  He is living a life that is marked by kindness.

Romans 2:4 says it is the kindness of God leads us to repentance. Kindness is contagious- look at the pay it forward movement. This kindness has encouraged others to repent and change the way they do things. It is a great example of kindness motivating others to a life style that pleases God. Agape motivated kindness is Christ living His life through us.

Do you have an example of kindness working in your life? I'd like to hear about it and celebrate with you.  Leave a short message in the comment section below.
