My One Word Journey in January: Become

My One Word Journey in January: Become

Become One Word for the Year

Before I started the year I did some praying and research about my word.

BECOME:

  1. to come into existence, to come to be
  2. To undergo change or development

John 1:12  AMPC  "But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name"

When we were born again we underwent a change.  We moved from the kingdom of darkness into a new kingdom.  We became a new creature and became the children of God.  This all happen in the spirit.  We now have to power, privilege and right to live this life as His children.  So even though we are the children of God, we still need to become His children.

How do we become His children?

  •  Spending time with our Father
  •  By taking full advantage of the finished work of the cross that is all ours to enjoy
  •  Growing in wisdom

That was the foundation He gave me for the year.

From My One Word journal: January 2022

My January journey started with me hearing the words "delightsome land". This is when I focus on delighting in the Lord, so this didn't surprise me. I found this comes from Malachi 3:12 and is a reward of the tither.

"And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts."

Matthew Henry's commentary says, "God must be served in the first place, and the interest of our souls ought to be preferred over our bodies. Let them trust God to provide for their comforts. God has blessing ready for us, but thru the weakness of our faith and the narrowness of our desires, we do not have room enough to receive them."

Then I read word from Lana Vawser  that said: the Lord is bringing a deep stretching in hearts and lives to make room for His fire and flood. Yield, make room, go with the leading, direction, guidance, and strategy of the Holy Spirit for the greatest outpouring that will plunge you into His heart, His wisdom, His power, and His revelation.

As I listened to many other ministers on what to expect in 2022, I came across Lance Wallnau's New Years Eve broadcast.

He said to write your own word. Go into the bible, the written Word of God. Find what is quickened to your spirit and that becomes a prophetic word for your life. You don't need some "man of God" to come prophecy over you. You have the Word and the Holy Spirit, so write your own prophetic word for your life in 2022. Using His Word, become the prophet over your life.

As I was reviewing this, I realized my art journaling page for January was a prophetic word for me, and I didn't even realize it! I did it at the beginning of the month before I heard these words.

Then I asked the Lord, what is a delightsome land? Then He led me to Isaiah 62: 2-7. Here is what I found a delightsome land looks like.

It is visible- All nations shall see, and kings shall behold.
-righteousness and vindication He ascribed to me
  -salvation and glory
  -beautiful and prosperous
-a crown of glory and honor from the hand of the Lord
-exceedingly beautiful in the hand of my God
He gives me a new name.
-Hephzibah: My delight is in her
  -Beulah: Married-
For the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be owned and protected by the Lord.
I am taken care of the same way a bridegroom rejoices and cares for his beloved bride.
Prayer is key.
-The Lord has watchmen praying for me.
-By my prayers, I put the Lord in remembrance of His promises until they come to pass.
  -Become a watchman for others

Action Plan:

Action plan

Apply My Word:

Become a delightsome land by practicing what delights the Father

Steps to take:

  1. Strengthen my faith by speaking the Word out loud
  2. Enlarge my desires by stamping out disappointment, confusion, worry, & fear and dreaming big
  3. Find new ways to give: be a cheerful giver
  4. Keep promises I've made to myself, others, & God
  5. Write my own prophetic word for 2022
  6. Renew my commitment to interceding for others and nations

My Celebration when I complete these steps:

A trip to the bookstore and a coffee shop.  I'll try to remember to post some pictures on my Instagram page.

I hope you were blessed by this recap of my January One Word journey.  It was so good and not at all where I thought the Lord would take me.  Surprise! And the month is not over yet.  I'm progressing with my action steps.  Number 4 has been the most difficult because I committed to a 21 day Daniel Fast.  I am really looking forward to my visit to the coffee shop!

Do you have a One Word for the year yet?  If not, I wrote a blog on choosing one. You can read it here.

I love how you’ve journeyed so far to find your word and how you’ve put it into doable steps.

My word for the year is “focus.” I like the word “become” as well. Thanks for sharing.

It is interesting how become is to come into existence, and then once in existence, become means change or development. It brings about the overall perspective of life and growth.

Great job on making the One Word Journal!
