The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your storehouses and in all that you undertake, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you. Deuteronomy 28:8
As I was meditating on this verse, the Lord said notice the word and in this verse. And is a conjunction that means together with, as well as, in addition to, also.
This verse does not say your storehouses will be blessed because of all you undertake. Throughout scriptures, God makes it very clear He is Jehovah Jira, the one who supplies. God can bless our storehouses independently of our work, and He will. That is exciting to me!
Work of Your Hands
The above translation uses the phrase, in all you undertake. The Hebrew words are on everything on which you put your hand. In other scriptures, the work of your hands is used. This includes deeds, things done, things made, labor, business, pursuit, undertaking, enterprise, and achievement.
Are you working at your job? Yahweh commands the blessing on your work.
Do you have your own business? Yahweh had commanded the blessing on it.
Are you pursuing a hobby? Blessed!
Taking care of kids, grandkids? Blessed!
Doing housework? Yes, He commands a blessing on you while you are doing the dishes and laundry!
Gardening or yard work? Blessed!
Driving in the car? Blessed!
Fellowshipping with friends or family? Blessed!
Sipping wine and watching Hallmark movies? Blessed if that is what you are undertaking at the time. (hint: watch it with the Lord, He enjoys a good movie and may use it to speak to you)
Ministering to others, praying, or reading the bible? Of course! Multiple blessings are there!
Be Confident; the Blessing Will Find You.
There isn't anything you do that Yahweh hasn't commanded blessings on, as long as you are obeying His commandments and listening to His voice.
There is nowhere you can go that His blessings won't find you.
What the Lord Has Shown Me
As you know, my focus this month has been on Yahweh commanding the blessing. The Holy Spirit has had me meditating on scriptures about the blessing on the work of your hand. There are a few things He has been emphasizing to me.
- I should enjoy my work and expect it to be blessed.
- God is my source of supply, not my job. He has infinite ways to bless me besides a paycheck at the end of the week. Watch for those blessings, keep a journal of them to go back to when I'm worried or discouraged.
- He wants us blessed materially as well as spiritually. This is so we can meet our family needs, give generously, and prepare for the future.
- Wisdom, not fear, should be my spending guide. It's ok to spend a little money on things you want, not only on bills and saving. Not purchasing items I need or want because I have to save it all for a rainy day is not trusting Him to supply in my future.
I created a couple printables for my own use this month, and I'm excited to share them with you. First, there is a list of the scriptures I've been meditating on. The second is a sheet to record the blessings you received. And the Deuteronomy 28 Blessing Decree is available also.
You may download, print, and share as you wish. The Lord wants you to watch for and be aware of the blessings He is commanding over the work of your hands.
How have you seen the Lord command the blessing on the work of your hands recently? I would love to celebrate with you, so leave a comment below!
