Awestruck by Me

Awestruck by Me

woman looking in mirror

Have you ever looked into a mirror and thought WOW, I'm amazing!  How did that happen?

Ephesians 2:10 says we are God's masterpiece.  A masterpiece is a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship.  Seeing a masterpiece can leave you awestruck.  That is what happened to David.  He tells us about it in Psalms 139.

 For You shaped me, inside and out.
    You knitted me together in my mother’s womb long before I took my first breath.
 I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe.
    You have approached even the smallest details with excellence;
    Your works are wonderful;
I carry this knowledge deep within my soul.
   You see all things; nothing about me was hidden from You
As I took shape in secret,
    carefully crafted in the heart of the earth before I was born from its womb.
 You see all things;
    You saw me growing, changing in my mother’s womb;
Every detail of my life was already written in Your book;
    You established the length of my life before I ever tasted the sweetness of it.
 Your thoughts and plans are treasures to me, O God! I cherish each and every one of them!
    How grand in scope! How many in number!
Psalms 139:13-17 VOICE

The masterpiece called you, started with the creation of man.

Let's imagine:

Picture a time before the earth was created.

There is a council meeting going on. God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are all present. They have had fun creating the blueprints for all the plants and animals, but the most important blueprint has yet to be finished. They have to come up with a never before imagined creation they call man. Every detail must be just right because man will be a visible and understandable representation of who they are. He is to rule on the soon to be formed planet called earth.

  What should his body look like? After all, that is the body Jesus will be stuck with for the rest of eternity. Those are the bodies all of God's children will have. They conclude this body should have an upright posture. They determine how the skeletal structure should be designed. They deliberate over the senses man will have., how he will see, hear, smell, touch. This man must be able to communicate, so a tongue and voice are designed, so he is capable of speech. Then they create a brain to regulate it all. Finally, they have it: the form in which God wishes to reveal Himself. The form Jesus will take to represent the Father to a fallen world. Then they set about forming the earth and all its inhabitants to prepare a place for man.

 Finally, the big day comes-Day 6 of creation. Carefully following the blueprints they agreed upon, God forms man's body out of the dust of the earth. I imagine Him stepping back at this point and saying, "What do you think, guys?

Is this not the best we have created yet?" After a little bit of well-deserved congratulations to each other, they prepare for the finale. Angels look at each other puzzled, wondering what is happening. They can sense the anticipation in the air. Everything has been building up to this moment, and they are too excited to wait any longer. Taking a deep breath, God breathed His breath into man.

In that breath was the very spirit of God, giving man the capacity for knowing God and communing with Him. He had emotions so he could respond to God's love and choose to love Him back. He was now a spirit living in a body, the very likeness of God. Not an exact copy, but a living soul capable of thinking, creating, and working with God to see His will be done on earth.

All of creation was awestruck! The angels in heaven were filled with wonder! I believe even God was amazed at His workmanship, man meet and exceeded all their expectations.

Dear friends, we are not evolved apes or a group of cells that climbed out of the slime. We are not an accident of nature. We are carefully planned and executed to the exacting standards of God, our creator.

There had never been anything as great and wonderful as man, the most marvelous of all God's creation. Man, both male and female, is an expression of the divine nature of God. So excellent, they are called the sons of God.

And you, beloved of God, are one of those marvelous creations called Man.  I encourage you to back to that mirror again.  Look at yourself as the awesome masterpiece you are.  Ignore the flaws that you see, and become awestruck by what God created.

have a delightful day

Jodee, it is amazing what a perspective change does when looking in the mirror. We are miraculously made! Thank you for the reminder! Visiting from #write28days, Cindy

I love that Psalm in the Voice translation. We indeed should be awestruck at how God created each and every one of us!

You are also the treasured daughter of the Most High God. How amazing is that?!
