Beliefs Check-up

Beliefs Check-up

Our beliefs are formed in two ways; by our experiences and what others have told us. As Christians, they should be based on what the Bible says. After we experience our Heavenly Fathers' love at salvation and encounter the Holy Spirit, we rely on what the fathers of faith tell us in the Bible.

Unfortunately, our experiences contrary to His word and the persuasive arguments of non-believers can sway our beliefs. The world is topsy-turvy right now, calling evil good, and what is good evil.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 5:20

We are bombarded with this to the point of brainwashing. It is time to take a step back and examine exactly what our beliefs are.

This is important because your beliefs influence hour your think, feel, and behave. They affect how you interpret the events in your life.

They guide your decisions and can turn into self-fulfilling prophecies. So spending a few moments reviewing your beliefs is necessary. Here are a few to get you started.

What do you believe about God?

  • Salvation-There are many ways to Heaven. Jesus is one but not the only way.
  • The Bible -the infallible word of God and is the basis for all my beliefs or a collection of inspirational stories
  • God's love and care for us personally and collectively
  • Eternity and being an eternal spirit

What are your beliefs about some of the hot topics of the day?

  • Abortion
  • LGBTQIA
  • Marriage
  • Immigration
  • Aliens brought life to this planet
  • The News
  • Climate control
  • Covid-19

What beliefs about yourself are influencing your life?

  • I'm a unique snowflake.
  • I am never alone.
  • God has good plans for my life.
  • I will be held responsible for how I use my gifts and talents.

Be honest with yourself even if you don't like what you uncover. These beliefs are shaping your everyday living. You can always change what your they are.

Acknowledging what they are is just the first step.

How long has it been since you stop to think about what you believe? Remember, you can choose what you will believe.

If your check-up shocked you, I'll be talking about how to change your beliefs on day 8 of write28 days-shock.

I like the concept of a belief check up.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and beliefs.

Great post! It’s sad to see that many who think they are following Jesus don’t have a belief system grounded in the truth. We have to know our Bibles if we want to know what to believe.

Great post! I didn’t really delve into all beliefs, but I know God understands reasons I do not. some people are hurting and some just defiant. I love that list, I’m a unique snowflake, never alone. God has good plans for my life. And yes,
I will be held responsible for how I use my gifts and talents.
