The Bible, God's word, is full of promises to you as a believer. He wants you to lay claim to them, to seize them and hold tightly to them. You can access those promises and activated them in your life by your profession of faith. Your faith is not in His promises alone but in the one who made those promises. You can rest assured that He is reliable, trustworthy, and faithful to keep His word.
This verse also says without wavering. James 1:6-8 also talks about a man that wavers. A wavering man is unstable in all his ways and shouldn't think he will receive anything of the Lord. When you are in circumstances that are directly opposite to the promise of God to you, your mind is going to waver. But it is not the mind where faith comes from; it is the heart.
...and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23
This revelation was so exciting for me! For years, I carried a fear that I wouldn't receive anything from God, because I kept doubting in my mind. There were times I even doubted my salvation; that was scary. I was set free from that fear when I realized it was the heart, not the mind where faith is.
...for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Matthew 12:34
This is how even though your mind may be unsure, you can hold fast to the profession of faith without wavering. You put those promises in your heart, then you can confess them out of your mouth by faith. Don't worry; the more you do this, the more stable your mind becomes.
The Father wants you to have those promises in your life! When He quickens a promise from His word in your spirit, He already has a plan in place for you to receive it. He will help you with His grace, mercy, and His goodness. There are angels assigned to see those promises happen in your life. You only need to cling tightly to Him, declare His promises, and expect them to appear in your life.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
What promises from His word are you holding on to? If you don't have any yet, start with John 3:16, then go to Deuteronomy 28, where our covenant promises are laid out. When you are professing your faith, make it personal. Here is an example.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
My profession of Faith- God so loved me that he gave his only begotten Son for me. Because I believe in Him, I will not perish but have everlasting life.
