Sabbath Rest-Time to Recuperate and Refresh

Remember the good ol' days, when Sunday was a day of rest.  All the stores were closed. We went to church and came home to have Sunday dinner. In our house, a nap followed dinner.  Supper was popcorn and soda while watching the Wonderful World of Walt Disney.  Other times, Sunday was spent with family and friends, playing games and fellowshipping.  We didn't acknowledge it as Sabbath Rest, but that is what it was. Gradually over time, the traditional day of Sunday as a day of rest ended.  Stores opened up, and shopping days switched from Saturday to Sunday....

The Solution to being Exasperated

My Mom recently sent me an email with some sayings I remember hearing as a child. Some she even said, but I won't tell you which ones. I've probably said some of them to my kids, again. not telling.   They are funny now, but as a child or teenager, they were exasperating! Pumpkin Pickin', Pumpkin Carving, Perfect Pumpkin Picnic Day!

I've been going through my blog post from 2017 because I need to free up some file space.  This was such a fun day for us, I wanted to share it.  This was only about  a month after Steve got out of the hospital from his hip surgery and strokes.  At the time, it took all his energy to get from the car to the pumpkin patch.  Now, he is fully recovered with NO lingering effects from the strokes. PRAISE THE LORD!  God is so good and I am so thankful for His faithfulness!   (Revised and reposted from 10/19/2017)  ...

Chocolate Covered Cherries: a Lesson on Waiting

I recently was blessed with a large jar of maraschino cherries. As I was pondering on what to do with them, I decided to make one of my favorite treats, Chocolate Covered Cherries.  This candy takes me back to my great-grandma's house which was just up the driveway from my grandparents.  My sister and I would walk up to see her when we visited them.  On the walk up to her house, we would be filled with the anticipation of seeing her, hearing the stories she'd tell, and the promise of a treat. She always had something for us...
