It's Time for a Personal Retreat!

Happy New Year!  It is the beginning of the Jewish New Year and a perfect time for a personal retreat.   A personal retreat is about taking time to get away from everyone and everything and allow Holy Spirit to revitalize our spirit, soul, and body.  We carve out room to spend an extended time with God and allowing Holy Spirit to do what He wants to.  Get away from your daily routine, celebrate His goodness and listen for His instructions for the upcoming year.  It is like taking a weekend with your best friend. What Now?

I don't know about you but there seems to be a letdown after a big holiday.  After all the activities of the last week, you may be asking, "what now?".  Imagine what the followers of Jesus felt.  From Palm Sunday, followed by Passover and ending on Easter Sunday, it was a busy week!   It must have been a roller coaster of emotions for those who lived it. This perception sets the perimeters for our relationship with Him. It influences our faith and how we pray.  It plays a part...

Sabbath Rest-Time to Recuperate and Refresh

Sabbath Rest-Time to Recuperate and Refresh

Remember the good ol' days, when Sunday was a day of rest.  All the stores were closed. We went to church and came home to have Sunday dinner. In our house, a nap followed dinner.  Supper was popcorn and soda while watching the Wonderful World of Walt Disney.  Other times, Sunday was spent with family and friends, playing games and fellowshipping.  We didn't acknowledge it as Sabbath Rest, but that is what it was. Gradually over time, the traditional day of Sunday as a day of rest ended.  Stores opened up, and shopping days switched from Saturday to Sunday....
