He is Directing Your Footsteps

This last week I have been contemplating the new year and what to be looking forward to. One of the messages I have received is to relax, knowing that the Lord is directing my footsteps. I believe it is a word for us in 2022.   The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Psalm 37:23 NLT During the last week of 2021, this scripture started showing up in my emails and social media feeds. Then, while watching the Stand New Year's Eve celebration, Rodney Howard-Browne shared on God directing your footsteps...

Focus on Finishing

Focus on Finishing

Every year I choose one word for the year. It is sort of a guiding light, a theme, or a focal point for the year. This year my word was FOCUS, and Focus on Finishing is my theme for December. The first project I finished was frogs in the picture above. I made them years ago, and they had gotten quite dirty and needed a makeover. Let Him Set the Table

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Psalm 23:5   Last week I read a word from Lana Vawser, "Dig Deep in December". When we sit down to find our Word and set goals, we look at our lives and see all the areas we need to improve. We focus on a weakness we want to fix. We start from a place of lack, somewhere we feel inadequate or not good enough. We imagine if we can just change enough, we will feel better about ourselves and more accepted by God and our friends....

Laying Up Treasures (and a recipe for Roasted Green Tomato Salsa Verde)

Laying Up Treasures (and a recipe for Roasted Green Tomato Salsa Verde)

Today, I'm canning the last of the tomatoes from our garden. Steve picked all the tomatoes that were left so he could pull the plants and get the garden ready for next year.  We have lots of green tomatoes, so I'm trying a Roasted Green Tomato Salsa Verde (recipe below). Strangely enough, with canning as my project for today, my devotional  was Matthew 6:19-21.  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and...
