He Still Keeps His Promises

He Still Keeps His Promises

As I opened up my June blog page to start a new blog, I found this one I had written a year ago. It was a reminder I needed, maybe you do too.  We need to go back often and remember what God has done for us, what He has said to us in the past.  I strongly suggest you keep a journal to record what the Father says to you, does for you and shows you. A year later, I look back and I have seen some of the promises happened.  I know there are more to come because He is faithful to fulfill every one.

(original post from June 2017)   As I was leaving a prayer meeting the other night, I was greeted with a view of a beautiful sky.   I looked a little closer, and there is was, a rainbow.  I could see both sides, but top was covered by clouds. That started me thinking about the rainbow and what it meant.

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” Genesis 9:12-16

Thunderstorms and rain are a minor inconvenience to most of us.  We grab an umbrella or wait until the storm blows over before we go out.  We admire the rainbow as we carry on with what we are doing.  But imagine being Noah or one of his family.  Before the flood, it had never rained.  Then one day you hear thunder in the distance, see a flash of lighting, then water comes pouring down out of the sky. You sit safely in the ark while outside, the world and everything in it is destroyed.  The next time it rains, you remember what happened last time. Remember the only time you have seen rain, was when the flood started.   The rain brings back memories of everyone you knew drowning.  Fear rises up-Will you drown now? After all, you're not perfect, maybe God has decided He made a mistake in letting you live.  Then your eye catches a streak of colors in the sky, a rainbow!  And you remember God's promise., " Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life."  How comforting that rainbow must have been to them.

That night, as I stopped to admire the rainbow,, I heard in my spirit  "I still keep my promises".  And suddenly, that rainbow became a sign for me. You see, I'm not afraid that God will destroy the earth with a flood so I don't need the rainbow to remind me of that.  But often the circumstances in my life aren't lining up with the promises in His word.  He promises to never leave or forsake us, but I can't tell He is there.  He promises that He will direct our footsteps, but I can't sense his directions.  He has promised to send angels to help, but I don't see them. Just as part of the rainbow was covered, and I couldn't see it, I can't see some of His promises happening.  I decree it, I declare it, I believe, I pray, I ask. That is where my  faith comes in, believing what I can't yet see.  As time passes and I haven't seen the promise come, doubt tries to sneak in.

Then with a glorious show of His Grace, my Father God set a rainbow in the sky and whispers, "I still keep my promises".  I felt as if that rainbow was  a personal sign, a message just for me!  My spirit was lifted and hope was renewed. I sensed His joy, not only will he keep them, but he is delighted to do so.  Like a promise of a fun vacation verses one to take out the garbage.  Both promises are kept, but a fun vacation is more delightful to keep that taking out the garbage. The promises He made, He is joyfully caring them out, anticipating our delight when they come. From now on, every time I see a rainbow, I will know Father God is sending me a message-Hey girl! Look up!  I'll keep the promises I made to you.  Just wait and see!

The good news for you, is that rainbow was not just for me.  It is yours also.  So when you see your next rainbow, let it remind you that God delights in keeping the promises!  Allow your hope to be renewed and thank Him for the ones He has made to you.  He is working behind the scenes to bring every one of them into your life.

P.S.  I'm working on a series of journals for you to keep a written reminder of what God is doing, saying and showing you.  I'll let you know when they are available.
